Roulette, that age-old game of luck, has some fairly uncomplicated rules, but there are too many ways to bet on a single outcome. Basically, there are only two types of bets, inside and outside, with inside bets being played on the 37 or 38 numbers available (37 for European tables and 38 for American with the double 00’s) and outside bets placed on outcomes, outside of the numbers, such as color combinations or range of numbers. These two are further illustrated below.
INSIDE BETS: Whenever betting on an Inside bet, take care that your bets add up to the table minimum, for example, if the table minimum is $5, you can make 5, $1 inside bets to play at the table.

STRAIGHT UP BET- the simplest bet in a game of Roulette, where you bet on any of the 36 numbers. Odds are 35 to 1 and you win accordingly. You win nothing if the ball lands up on a 0 or 00

SPLIT BET- Place your bet on two numbers simultaneously, if they are placed side by side on the table. The payout is 17 to 1, if either one of the numbers comes up.

STREET BET- Placing a bet on three numbers simultaneously. This bet pays 11 to 1

CORNER/SQUARE BET- Place your bet on four numbers, by dragging your chips to the corner where 4 numbers meet on the table layout. If any of the numbers show up, you win 8 times your wager

TRIO/BASKET BET: A bet on 0,1,2 or 00,2,3 or 0,00,2. Payout is 11 to 1

FIVE NUMBER/ TOP LINE BET- this is the only bet in online roulette worth avoiding. The payout is six times your initial wager, but only when the ball lands up on a 0, 00, 1, 2 or 3. Since the odds of the ball landing on any one number are, exactly the same at any spin, the low payout makes this bet hopeless.

OUTSIDE BETS: Since the outside bets have a better chance at winning, seeing as they combine multiple numbers, the payouts are low. Also you are supposed to pay the table minimum on each outside bet you make, the various kinds of which are:

RED/BLACK- Place your bet on whether the ball lands on a Black or Red sector. The odds are 50-50. You get paid even money if you win

ODD/EVEN- Even money bet on the ball landing on an even or odd number. 0 or 00 don’t count, so you deal with 36 numbers only

LOW/HIGH- Even money bet, where you bet on the ball landing on 1-18 or 19-36

COLUMN- Bet on an entire column of numbers. You win twice the amount you wager.

DOZENS- Bet on either 1-12, 13-24 or 25-36 showing up. This pays twice your wager
